3 Advantages To Take-Home Teeth Whitening Trays

shutterstock_245531419If you’re looking for a cost-effective but efficient way to whiten your teeth conveniently, you may just be the right candidate for take-home teeth whitening trays. We know in-office whitening treatments aren’t for everyone, that’s why we want to make it as easy as it can be for to have the pearly whites you want. The procedure is quite different from what you’d expect in the office. Your dentist will custom make these plastic trays to fit your teeth specifically, and provide you with a peroxide-based whitening gel to fill the trays with. From there, you wear them once per day for up to two weeks and you’ll be able to notice a dramatic difference!

It seems easy-peasy, doesn’t it? There really isn’t a “catch” when it comes to at-home whitening. Unless, of course, you’re looking for an immediate change to your smile – in which case, we would suggest chatting with your dentist about an in-office treatment. But, we haven’t even covered all of the advantages yet – we’re just getting started!

1.Comfort

As we previously mentioned, these plastic trays are made just to fit your teeth. Not only does this increase the comfort, but the material used to make the tray itself is very thin and clear, maximizing the comfort of the whitening trays. You won’t have to worry about the “slipping and sliding” of a gel whitening strip that you would buy over-the-counter or trying to stay still throughout your in-office whitening procedure. Not only is your mouth comfortable, but you’re body can be too while you’re perfecting your smile from your own home.

2.Cost-Effectiveness

Of course it’s going to depend on your dentist and your area, but generally speaking, take-home whitening trays have a lower overall cost than any other whitening treatment. While the upfront cost may be higher than a kit you could find in your local grocery store or pharmacy, the trays are reusable and the gel is refillable – so you won’t be dropping that kind of money every time you want to whiten your teeth.

3.Efficiency

Although the treatment isn’t as efficient as an in-office procedure (which can give you results in the same day), you won’t be waiting six weeks to see results either. Often times, people can begin to see results much quicker than the estimated two weeks – but, depending on the shade and stains on your teeth, it could take up to the full two weeks (or even longer) for you to notice a difference. If you’re worried about this, speak to your dentist because everybody’s teeth are different!
